The first video produced by the American Public Works Association, Florida Chapter, documents public works activities and how those activities make “communities work better.”A second video, produced by the city of Palm Bay Communications and Information Technology Department, takes viewers on a tour with public works employees while they perform their jobs. The 10-minute video, titled “It’s our Job,” explains how Palm Bay Public Works maintains the infrastructure of the city, which is nearly 100 square miles. It includes everything from roads, drainage and traffic operations to mowing, landscaping, engineering and much more.
“Unless you know what a day is like without the services of the public works department, you won’t realize just how essential these services really are,” said Elia Twigg, Public Works Director. “We not only manage the infrastructure for today, we are also designing and planning the future of our city; from a new interchange and parkway to keep up with growth to new facilities like Palm Bay’s new fire station 1 to keep your neighborhoods and property safe.”For more information contact the Public Works Department at 321-953-8996.
