COCOA, Florida - Free lunches for children will be served beginning Tuesday, May 28, in at least a dozen sites in Brevard County through Florida’s Summer BreakSpot program.
Meals are available to anyone 18 or younger, and up to 30 sites will be open by June 3. Breakfast also will be served at some sites. Parents should dial 2-1-1 for information on times and locations or visit www.211brevard.org.
2-1-1 Brevard is a nonprofit that operates a telephone-based helpline offering information, referral and crisis intervention 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
More than 30,000 meals were served last year through Summer BreakSpot, which is managed by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and provided by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Ending dates for the meal program vary by site.
