Local Robotics Team displays information at pancake breakfast.
“We give scholarships of around $1,000 to a Key Club student at both Merritt Island High School and Edgewood Jr./Sr. High School each year,” said club secretary Dave Strunk.
The breakfast featured music by MILA Elementary and a Robotics demonstration by Team Horsepower, which has members from all of the secondary schools on Merritt Island.
“The Kiwanis Club offers an amazing scholarship program for MIHS and Edgewood students,” Alyssa Auricchio of MIHS said. “Our club also received proceeds from tickets we sold.”
Club member Paul Chalko noted that local students learn community service through their participation in Key Club.
“Edgewood students have a mentoring program with MILA – helping students with reading and math skills,” he said.
Auricchio added that MIHS Key Club students have helped with other community events, such as an Easter Egg Hunt at the Health Center of Merritt Island.
