MERRITT ISLAND, Florida - Patrons lined up outside GameStop in the Merritt Square Mall on Monday night, awaiting the Midnight release of “Call of Duty: Black Ops II.”

“We have 500 copies in the store,” said Jennifer Lutz, a store employee.  “About 400 have been pre-ordered.  We expect that 200-300 people will be here at Midnight to get their copies.”

First in line - complete with lawn chairs - were cousins, Mario and Jaime Rivera.  “We saw on TV that people were lining up at a store in Orlando, so we thought we would here too,” Mario said.  “It’s one of my favorite type games to play.”

The sequel to the original “Call of Duty: Black Ops,” it includes returning characters such as Viktor Reznov, Frank Woods and Alex Mason. The setting takes place in the year 2025, making this game very futuristic.

Fan-favorites “Black Ops:ZOMBIES” and “Nuketown 2025” are  included with the pre-ordered purchase of “Call of Duty: Black Ops II.”

The original “Call of Duty: Black Ops” was set in the 1960’s-1980’s. Alex Mason, Frank Woods, and a figment of Viktor Reznov battled through the era with all the classic settings. Not known until the final level of the campaign for Black Ops, it was revealed that Viktor Reznov had been captured and killed in the first level.

It was believed that Frank Woods was killed in a grenade frenzy in one of the last levels, until the releasing of the trailer for “Black Ops II,” which showed a beaten and gray Frank Woods talking about the 2025 futuristic era.
